RE: Books read vs. Books reviewed
I just can't seem to dredge up a full length review of anything. One-liners? That I can do.
Bah.

RE: Books read vs. Books reviewed
I haven't read anything inspiring for a while. The one I'm reading now is bordering on sheer torture - I hate this new school of writers who refuse to put dialogue in quotations. This one's even worse - he not only doesn't put it in uotatinos, he also doesn't separate it from the rest of the text with a new paragraph. It's definitely not added to the experience...

RE: Books read vs. Books reviewed
Quote: dramastef Informal poll... how many books do you read on a weekly/monthly basis and how many of those books do you review here?
I have been trying to figure out my own percentage and it was quite a surprise to me.
At least four nights a week, I read three to five books to my five-year-old. Let's cut that down the middle and say four (16 books). For school right now, I'm reading two trade books and one Shakespeare play each week, for an additional 3 books. On top of that, I usually find time to sneak in 2-3 books that I want to read. Let's call that 2 and add it all up to 21 books per week.
A quick perusal of my reviews show that in the past six months, I've reviewed: 5, 2, 3, 4, 2 and 5 books (21). There were roughly 26 weeks in those six months, meaning I read around 546 books. Assuming some to my son were repeats (though not many, we're avid library-goers), let's call it 500.
21/500 - I've only reviewed 4% of the books I've read in the past six months.
Wow. I really, really need to do better than that. I'm going to try and slowly up my percentage. For the next month, I'm going to shoot for 10%, then 20%, etc. up to 50.

Now that school's over I'm not reading as much Shakespeare. It might take a year or two to start enjoying the old chap again after having to tear him apart this past semester.
Unfortunately I still don't think my percentage is much higher now than it was when I started this thread. |

I've never gone back and read Shakespeare after studying him. I wonder what I would think of him now.

RE: Books read vs. Books reviewed
I review lots of books but we read lots of books. :) I tend to review ones that I get excited about or my daughter gets excited about. Usually the ones that were boring or not worth the read, I rarely will review. Essentially what most have said...if I have something to say about it, I will review it! Otherwise it goes un-reviewed by me.

Julie I enjoy him when I have time to pick something up. I feel like I should be studying when I read him though. I loved learning Shakespeare in a structured environment. I suppose that's a bit oxymoronic.
